Obituary of Frederick Joseph O'Callaghan

O?Callaghan Jr., Frederick Joseph ?Fred?, 69, of Seminole and formerly of St. Petersburg, died Friday, August 25, 2000 at home. A native of Larchmont, New York, he moved to St. Petersburg in 1935 from there and then moved to Seminole recently. He was the owner and operator of O?Callaghan Realty in St. Petersburg for 25 years before joining Coldwell Bankers where he sold real estate for 5 years. Fred belonged to Treasure Island Tennis and Yacht Club and was a former member of Seminole Lake Country Club. He was a past president of the St. Petersburg Suncoast Association of Realtors, a director for the Florida Association of Realtors for 6 years, and a director for the National Association of Realtors for 6 years. Fred graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1949 where he was an outstanding athlete in three varsity sports. He coached Northwest Little League for sixteen years and was a past president of Boca Ciega High School?s and St. Petersburg Catholic High School?s Athletic Boosters. Fred was a veteran of the Korean War as he served in the Air Force. He was an avid tennis and bridge player and was Catholic. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Dianne L. of Seminole, 3 sons: Frederick Joseph O?Callaghan III of St. Petersburg, Dr. Kevin O?Callaghan of Largo, and Thomas Patrick O?Callaghan of St. Petersburg; 2 daughters: Kimberly Blumer and Erin O?Callaghan both of St. Petersburg; one brother: Colonel Thomas P. O?Callaghan of Las Vegas, NV; one sister: Ruth Hutto of Jacksonville, FL; and 12 grandchildren. Anderson McQueen Funeral Homes and Cremation Tribute Center-Bobbitt Chapel.
