Obituary of Col. Walter W. Gemmill

Gemmill, Col. Walter W. ?Bill?, 84, Of St. Petersburg, died Friday, September 15th, 2000. He was born in Scottdale, PA and came here in 1970 from El Paso, TX. He retired as a Colonel from the Army after 28 years, and served during WW II, the Korean war, and the Viet Nam war. He was the recipient of the national defense service medal with oak leaf cluster; the Army commendation medal with 3 oak leaf clusters; the Armed Forces reserve medal with 10 year device; and the legion of merit. Locally, he was a member of the Retired Officers Association and he was a Lutheran. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elouise R.; 1 son, John W. of Indianapolis, IN; 1 daughter, Judith Lynn Nolin of Douglasville, GA; 4 grandchildren, Brian, Tracy, Jeff, & Michael; and 1 great grandson, Branton.
