Obituary of Arthur Cook Bridgman

Bridgman, Arthur Cook ?Coach?, 75, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday November 18, 2000 at St. Anthony?s Hospital after a short illness. Born in Belchertown, Massachusetts, he came here 15 years ago from San Francisco, California. He retired after 35 years as a soccer coach and teacher at San Francisco State University and served in the U.S. Navy during in WWII. He was the class President of Springfield College in Massachusetts for 2 years and received a Certificate of Loyalty in June, 2000 honoring him for over 50 years of alumni loyalty to Springfield College. He was an avid sports fan, a supporter of the police and fire departments, and volunteered his time to local children by giving them soccer tips and training. He played semi-professional soccer in San Francisco. Survivors include 2 sons, Arthur Cook Bridgman, Jr. of San Francisco, California and Donald George Bridgman of Sonoma, California; 3 daughters, Deborah Mary Bridgman of Alexandria, Virginia, Donna Cheryl Bridgman of St. Petersburg and Laura ?Little Bit? Bridgman of Cleveland, Georgia; his mother, Bernice A. Bridgman of St. Petersburg; a brother, William E. Bridgman, Jr. of Sarasota; a sister, Jane B. Dunnan of St. Petersburg; and 4 grandchildren.
