Obituary of Edward Woodrow Ed'' Brown

Brown, Edward Woodrow ?Ed?, 74, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday December 16, 2000 at his daughter?s home after a long illness. Born in Washington County, Maryland, he came here in 1979 from Shappsburg, Maryland. He was a retired plumbing inspector for the City of Tampa retiring in 1994. He was an Army veteran of WWII serving in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart and Distinguished Unit Badge. He was a member of Amvets of Hagerstown, Maryland for 11 years; Amvets Post 1 of Pinellas; and the American Legion. Survivors include a daughter, JoEllen Nichols of St. Petersburg; 2 sons, Thomas E. Brown of Gulfport and Michael R. Brown of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania; 2 stepsons, Bruce Scott Gilbert of Charlestown, West Virginia and Thomas G. Gilbert of Frederick, Maryland; 3 brothers, Fred Young of Lewisberg, Mississippi, James Young of Hagerstown, Maryland and William Young of Macon, Georgia; 3 sisters, Alice Young, Shirley Gross and Mary Young, all of Hagerstown, Maryland; 12 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
