Obituary of Warren J Winters

Winters, Warren J., 76, of St. Petersburg, FL and formerly of Davenport,IA, died Friday, February 16th, 2001 at the VA Medical Center in Bay Pines. A native of Davenport, he resided there until he entered the Air Force in 1942. He was the son of Harry E. & Norma M. Zimmerman Winters. He moved to St. Petersburg in 1968 from Colorado Springs, CO after retiring as an Air Force Officer. He received his Masters Degree from the University of South Florida and worked for 20 years as a Guidance Counselor for Tampa Catholic High School. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association, the Daedalians pilot?s organization, American Legion Post #139, DAV, and St. Raphael?s Catholic Church in St. Petersburg. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Corlyss L. Winters; 2 sons, Reed S. and Robert S. Winters; three grandchildren, Ryan Steven, Ashley Ann, and Katelyn Ann Winters all of St. Petersburg; and one brother, Reed E. Winters of Seattle, WA. Visitation will be Monday from 4 ? 7 PM at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes, and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 AM at St. Raphael?s Catholic Church, both in St. Petersburg. Interment with full military honors will follow at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater, FL.
