Obituary of Polly Knowles Dashiell Woodhouse

Woodhouse, Polly Knowles Dashiell, of St. Petersburg, died on Sept. 5, 2007, following a long illness. Born in New Orleans, LA, Mrs. Dashiell Woodhouse came to the St. Petersburg area in the 1950?s. A world traveler involved in many civic activities in the community, Mrs. Dashiell Woodhouse was a member of the Stuart Society of the Museum of Fine Arts; All Childrens Hospital; a former Chairwoman of the Charity Ball; a Princess of the Queen of Hearts Court; twice president of the Propeller Club; Salty Sisters; Officers Wives Club; Women?s Service League, chosen for the Hall of Fame; St. Petersburg Yacht Club and the Pass-A-Grille Yacht Club. Mrs. Dashiell Woodhouse and her late husband and yachtsman, Eugene Dashiell, who was one of Hewlett Packard?s first 100 employees, traveled the world with a home based in Switzerland. Friends will remember Mrs. Dashiell Woodhouse as a gracious hostess entertaining many of the community leaders at her famed black tie dinner dances. Survivors include: Husband, Peter H. Woodhouse, of St. Petersburg; two Cousins, Freddy Welty, wife of Dr. Paul Welty of St. Petersburg; Annalyn Holloway, wife of Charles Holloway from Baton Rouge and many second and third cousins.
