Obituary of Ernest R. Stoutamire

Ernest R. Stoutamire, 68, of St. Petersburg, FL, died Monday, May 23, 2005 at Shore Acres Rehab & Nursing Center. He was born in Tallahassee, FL and moved to St. Petersburg in 1990 from Inverness, FL. He was a 1961 graduate of Florida State University with a Bachelor Of Music degree and a 1963 graduate of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master's Degree in Church Music. He served as Minister Of Music at numerous Southern Baptist churches in Florida including First Baptist Church in Inverness for 14 years, Hendricks Ave. Baptist Church in Jacksonville for eight years, and former Gateway Baptist Church (now Grace Community Church) in St. Petersburg for three years. He received a Teachers Certificate in Music Education from the Florida Department Of Education in 1968 and was a choral director at Paxon Jr. High School in Jacksonville, Shanks Jr. and Sr. High Schools in Quincy, FL, and was a substitute teacher for the Pinellas County School System. He was active in the Florida Baptist Singing Men since 1970. He was a member of Grace Community Church. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carole; one daughter, Amy E. Stoutamire of Oldsmar, FL; two brothers, Lawrence, Jr. of Carrabelle, FL, Steve of Tallahassee; one sister, Carol S.
