Obituary of Mary Frances Sherman

Sherman, Mary, 80, of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away February 27, 2018 at Suncoast Hospice Mid Pinellas Woodside. She was born in Thealka, Kentucky, and her younger years in Kenton, Ohio, then spent many years in St. Petersburg, Florida. Mary tragically lost her life February 27 in hospice care due to complications from a November 2016 automobile accident. Mary was a wonderful homemaker, but also spent 24 years helping children cross the St. Petersburg streets as a Crossing Guard. Mary had a very kind heart and was known to open her home to all with open arms. Mary loved adventures and went on many as a member of the Blue Knights, the Bradenton Chapter of the Lions Club; as well as with friends and family. Mary's spirit will be remembered for her class, grace, and kindness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Daisy Castle; her sibling, and 1 grandchild. Mary is survived by her husband of 62 years, Frederick J. Sherman; sons, Frederick J. Sherman, Jr. and Robert Sherman; daughter, Alice Millward; siblings, Carol, Elizabeth, and Chester; grandchildren, Veronica, Christopher, Stephanie, Melanie, Danielle, Alison, Kathleen, and Nicholas; as well as her 17 great-grandchildren. Mary's memorial service will be held at Riviera United Methodist Church on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 11am. Reception to immediately follow.
