Obituary of Louis P. Ortiz

Ortiz, Louis P., age 73 of Treasure Island, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, on April 9, 1944 and was raised in Queens, NY before moving to Treasure Island when he was 18 years old. He is preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Eileen Cuervo; father Luis Ortiz; mother Tomasita "Toni" Hardina; and stepfather, Noel Hardina. Louis became a founder of Garcia & Ortiz, P.A. together with Luis Garcia in 1971. Louis received his B.S.B.A from the University of Florida in 1967 and his M.B.A. from the University of South Florida in 1975. He also served in the United States Marine Corps. Louis is survived by his children, Jennifer O. Jones (Stephen), Marianne Ortiz Touger, Darrin Louis Ortiz, Eric L. Ortiz; brother, Phillip Ortiz (Kristie); grandchildren, Carmen, Treasa and Sadie Jones, Sarah, Elise and Katherine Touger, Elijah and Kenix Ortiz; cousin Eddie Rivera and many nieces and nephews. There will be a gathering on Friday, April 6th 4pm-7pm with memorial service at 7pm; both at Anderson McQueen- 2201 Dr. ML King St. N., St. Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ASPCA, Wounded Warrior Project, Boys and Girls Club, Make A Wish Foundation or Operation Smile.
