Obituary of Soteria Sue Hiotis
Hiotis, Soteria “Sue”, 84, of St. Petersburg passed away April 22 at Gulf Shore Care Center. Sue was born and lived in Dayton, Ohio until she moved to Naples, Florida in 2002, and then to St. Petersburg in 2008. Throughout her entire life she was a devout member of the Greek Orthodox Church, and a member of the choir, which she loved more than anything. She lived for her family and everything Greek. She loved to sing and dance. She was a wonderful mother and wife and loved by everyone she met. She was brave and strong about all things through her life, even at the very end. She was preceded in death by her parents Pete and Olympia Lavis, and in-laws Father George Hiotis and Anastasia Hiotis. She is survived by her husband Cosmo, daughters Annie and Pia of St. Petersburg, son George of Zanesville, Ohio, brother Spero Lavis of Lexington, Kentucky, Christ and Marilyn Hiotis of Naples, Florida, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other close family members. The funeral service will be at St. Barbara’s Greek Orthodox Church in Sarasota, Florida at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 26. A memorial gathering will be held at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. MLK St. N., St. Pete, following the service from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.
