He always made me laugh when we were in school together. He had a smile that could light up 1000 W bulb. Clear and always kind, Wake's eyes would sparkle mischievously as his rosebud pout curled into a teasing grin when he laughed.
I hope to see you again, my friend. You've got a pair of two-tone gray velvet harem pants that I want to borrow again when I go dancing. I will always remember you.

Today I learn that I loss a great colleague. A casual conversation with a CNBC US colleague over the phone, I was asking how are our friends in the US. I mentioned Wake among the names and then came the sad news. I have never met Wake but we always converse over the phone, me in CNBC in Asia and him in EC CNBC Trans. He was such a great guy. Easy to talk to and ever so helpful. Working with him was amazing and we always get things done even on those difficult days! Although it has been a year since Wake left, today is a sad day for me. My deepest and sincere condolences to the family of Wake. May he rest in peace.
Sincerely,
Riz (CNBC Singapore)

I went to high school with Wake and I am deeply saddened to hear he is no longer with us on earth. We weren’t particularly close but when we passed each other in the hallway or found a moment to relax in the student lounge at the same time we greeted each other and had a pleasant chat. Yes, we were young but I remember his incessant smile, his passion for skating and the skater lifestyle. He was awesome on anything with wheels. Buzz cut hair, Big heart, Smiling face, Generous and Kind, the Cool kid with a Cool style, Sick Kick-flips and other tricks. That was Wake and I looked up to him. I personally wasn’t drawn to the skater lifestyle but after meeting Wake I considered it :) He was smart and funny too. A great combo that left a positive mark on anyone that met him. His presence is felt and his light continues to shine. I will always have fond memories of him. His legacy is one of passion, talent, hard work, love, and kindness. He’ll be missed. Our deepest condolences. Our prayers and thoughts go out to his family and friends. May God continue to bless and comfort you all.

I didn't know Wake very well in high school, but I was able to meet him again, 15 years later, at a reunion. I was so pleased I got to spend some time with him: he was down-to-earth and kind, and seemed to be leading an interesting and happy life. I was sorry I hadn't gotten to know him better, earlier. Condolences to his friends and family. This is very sad news.

Dear Wake's Family,
Wake was in my daughter, Brie's class at Key. As a member of the Outdoor Education team, I was on every school trip he participated in from Williamsburg to Assateague. I remember him well and know that he was liked and respected by his classmates, teachers and, friends, at Key. His gentle and easy going personality and big smile are what I think of first when picturing him on Key's campus.
I am so sorry for your loss and hold you and Wake in my heart.

Sending condolences to Wake's family from Baton Rouge. Although I never had the opportunity to meet Wake, I have met both his parents, read his obituary with great interest, and I watched the beautiful video composed from his life events. I wish everyone Godspeed in getting through the trauma of his tragic death. I light a candle to represent the love that our College of the Coast and Environment sends to all, but especially to Chris and Jenny, who we know best.

Chris and family--
So sorry. I know how proud you were of your son because you told me about the high pressure--and fun--of the CNBC job. I was hoping to have him talk to our classes about the importance of TV production people, folks who are willing to work behind the camera and without whom the show never would appear.
