Obituary of Congetta Kirkland
Kirkland, Congetta “Connie”, 96, of St. Petersburg passed away May 27, 2018 at her daughter Joy’s home in Archer, Florida. Born and raised in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, she graduated from Phillipsburg High School. Connie was a very independent, resourceful and loving individual. She was the first to leave home and joined the Navy in Philadelphia, PA in July, 1943. She served in Washington D.C until her discharge in February, 1946. She met her husband Quincey, who was also in the Navy, during that time. They were married July 4, 1946. She loved music and food. She always offered others compliments and encouragement. She enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and they were equally delighted by her. Her beautiful smile and charming spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthonio & Rosemarie Ferretti; her sisters Grace Bogusky, Clara Reich, Gloria Andrews, Jean DeAlmo and Anita Sciabarassi; her husband Quincey Kirkland, Sr; her grandsons Everett Sharp & Woodrow Kirkland. Connie is survived by her sister Rita Kelly; her daughters Rosemary Cavnar and Joy Sharp, her son Quincey Kirkland, Jr, 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Connie’s visitation will be Friday, June 1, 2018 from 4 – 6 PM at Anderson-McQueen, 2201 Dr. MLK Jr. St. N, St. Petersburg. The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 2nd at noon.
