Obituary of Annie Frances Walters

Walters, Annie Frances “Fran” (Nunn) Jernigan, 78, of Pinellas Park, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on December 25, 2018 after a courageous year-long battle with cancer. Fran was born in Ardmore, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benton G. Nunn and E. Edith Greene, and her husband Duane A. Walters. Fran was a voracious reader, faithfully worked her “puzzles” from the newspaper each morning, and spent endless hours playing games on her Kindle that challenged her mind. She also loved spending time with her family, playing cards and enjoying a good meal. Throughout her life she loved to go fishing. In retirement she discovered cruising, where she made many friends, and loved to play the slots in the casino. Fran is survived and will be forever missed by her loving companion, Carl Reed; children Robert (Joette) Jernigan, Pam (Dan) Munro, Cindy (Mike) Brown, and step-son Eugene Walters; siblings Barbara (David) Gonsalves, Elaine (George) Manassa and Clyde Greene, Jr; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. Before she passed, Fran expressed great gratitude for the care she received at home from the Suncoast Hospice Silver Team. Her family is also truly grateful for the nurses and staff of the Hospice Care Center at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, for their kind and compassionate care during her last days. Fran requested that family and friends who wish to honor her memory make a contribution in her name to Suncoast Hospice (Pinellas County, FL). A committal service will be held on Friday, January 11 at 2 pm at Bay Pines National Cemetery.
