Obituary of Zofia Wiewurka

Zofia “Sophie” Wiewurka, age 99, of Kenneth City, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Carrington Place of St. Petersburg, FL. Born in Queens, NY and shortly thereafter immigrated to Poland, later returned to the United States with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John Wiewurka, and her parents and siblings; Jennie, Henry, Marion, Teddy, and Vincent. Sophie is survived by several nieces and nephews; Lillian and Edward Kulinski, Geraldine and Bob Grados, Susan Stockdale, Larry Zoufaly and Nancy Zoufaly. She worked for Kollsman Instrument Corporation in Queens, New York City as an inspector of electronic equipment used in commercial and military aircraft instrumentation that greatly increased air safety. In 1975 after 30 years of service, she retired to Kenneth City. She had a deep love for all animals as was witnessed by her feeding of the birds, nurturing her beloved cat and toy poodle. Sophie’s memorial services will be Friday, May 3, 2019 at 10:00 am at Anderson McQueen NE St. Petersburg location.
