Obituary of Robert Helmling

Robert “Bob” Helmling, 82, of St. Petersburg, FL, went to his heavenly home on Nov. 4, 2019. Born in Cincinnati, OH, he attended undergraduate and medical school at the University of Cincinnati. He interned at Harbor General Hospital in Torrance, CA, and returned to Cincinnati for his urology residency. He was a Captain in the US Air Force, serving in Vietnam and at Homestead AFB. He practiced urology in Orlando, FL, until 1993, when he moved his practice to Arkansas. Retiring in 1999, he returned to Florida to reside in St. Petersburg. During his time in St. Pete, he had many things he loved to do - boating, fishing, hunting, and he was an avid fan of University of Cincinnati football. He and his wife, Carol, loved to travel. He had a sense of humor like no other. He had such a loving and compassionate heart. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for someone who needed it. He loved studying the Word of God, which he did with Bible Study Fellowship. He loved his family dearly. He and Carol celebrated 52 years of marriage and raised four children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Olga Helmling, and his sister, Sue Watson. Bob is survived by his wife, Carol; his children Rob (Lisa) Helmling, Holly (Scott) Dinkel, Mark (Dana) Helmling, and Matt (Kim) Helmling; his nieces Karen Duncan and Julie Anderson; and his 10 grandchildren. Bob’s celebration of life will be Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019 at 11am at Calvary Chapel - 8900 US Hwy 19 N, Pinellas Park, FL 33782. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to BSFinternational.org.
