The partners and staff of Dwight Darby & Company will greatly miss Wayne’s wit, strength and intellect. Wayne joined Dwight Darby in 1967 and served as its managing partner from 1986-2000. He will be remembered for his kindness, friendship and unwavering support for his clients and colleagues. He lived life large and was admired by many, honored by most and respected by all that knew him. It is with a heavy heart that we bid our colleague, mentor and friend farewell.

Uncle Wayne is so special to me throughout my whole life. Even inspiriting me to join the Marine Corps. We will always share this brotherhood. Tommy and I loved every minute of time we got to spend with him and the whole family. Uncle Wayne is a dynamic man with many admirable qualities. Whether he was laughing or serious we learned countless valuable life lessons.
In his quiet manner I always felt his support and that he believed in me. I love that he helped us create times to cherish for family and friends by opening his home and heart to all he loved. The loss of Uncle Wayne is a major grief for us, but he will most certainly live on in our hearts and memories.
We love you Uncle Wayne! Semper Fidelis!

Wayne Bond,
You were the brightest light in this world. You were the best man I’ve ever known. Your dedication to your work, your family, and your friends will never be forgotten. You always came to our football, soccer, basketball, and cheerleading events, always there to support us. Whether we lost or had a fault throughout the game, you always brought us up. Your spirit and amazing personality will always live through us, whether is was flicking us in the back of the head, feet dangling from the ceiling, headfirst down a slide, or speeding on the highway on your motorcycle. We love you with all of our hearts. This isn’t a goodbye, only a see you later.

When we first met Wayne we referred to him as “the guy in the garage”. Many years and doggie dates later the garage guy became a close friend. We had the privilege of getting to know his family from his stories and memories. He was very proud of his kids and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. He was thoughtful and generous, often picking up our favorite beer, lending us tools, and getting our dog Christmas gifts. We have a palm tree in our back yard that Wayne helped us move and replant, we call it our “Wayne tree”. Our friends and family all know Wayne as Woogle because we joked that he had all the answers. He was a great friend and we will miss him dearly.
Much love,
Kim, Jason, and Penelope

Wayne Meredith Bond, 1943-2019
Wayne, a motorcycle enthusiast, avid fan of NASCAR, and doting father and grandfather, enjoyed a full, self-steered life. He passed doing what he loved: racing along the open roads on one of his Harley Davidsons, the wind in his face, and bugs in his teeth. Which I had the pleasure and opportunity to share with him on numerous occasions.
A memorable moment was when he was given the opportunity to drive an actual NASCAR vehicle on a closed track. His face lit up like a kid in a candy store.
He adored his grandkids, evidenced by the way his often stern and stoic expression would melt away, replaced by the rare smile and, sometimes, laughter. That's not to say he was curmudgeonly. He wasn't. He understood the value of engaging with his family. And though he wasn't a man of many words, he also knew the value of wisdom, which wasn't imparted by those who ran off at the mouth. His was a quiet, strong love that his family cherished and will miss dearly.
Wayne enjoyed his beer, a certain pair of moccasins which he insisted on wearing while riding his Harley, and possessed a down-to-earth generosity that was admired by all who knew him.
He was gifted with an exceptional work ethic and served in the United States Marine Corps before moving into accounting after leaving the military. He was always a quiet, gentle presence with his grandkids, who called him "PAPA" with deep affection. He was quite protective of his family, always ready to defend home and hearth against the world and had a watchful gaze that missed little. He had the firm hands of an honest, hard working man.
He kept his private life private, but when he opened up, it was a revelation. He was playful in his own way, and well-liked by many. His was a fire that burned for 76 wonderful years and vanquished much too soon.

Every time I went to one of the grandkids sporting events, I always knew I’d see Papa. He was bigger then life to all his Grandkids! The first time I met him was when Jennifer and Kevin were first dating and they wanted their parents to meet. Jennifer had already told me that “Kevin was the one” . But when Wayne shook my hand to meet he said, in only the way that Wayne could say “Well I don’t know about this!”. I still laugh when I think about it. So many stories since that day, always fun to be with and always so proud of his family. Such a good man who will always and forever be in our hearts.

Love you Papa. You were the backbone to this family. We, especially myself, learned so much from you even when you weren’t trying to teach us.

To the strongest, smartest, and most caring man i knew,
I will always remember your around-the-block rides on your beautifully decorated and lit motorcycle. I will always remember your slippers you refused to take off, even when new ones were bought. I will always remember the famous “papa” fried chicken dinner from po-folks. I will always remember screaming i love you over the volume 50 tv while you were watching race cars.
I will always remember you. You left such an impact in my life, and everyone you met. I will truly miss you and all the memories.

My favorite memory of my Papa Wayne will always be when coming to visit and saying hello upon arrival. We would come from Colorado, so after many modes of transportation, we would make a right down their street and pull up into the driveway on the left and I would jump out of our rental car, run through the thick grass, up the front stairs and into the living room. The first thing I would hear would be “Samsonite!!” I would be filled with joy as I would run and get a huge papa hug. Taken from us too soon, but I know he will be watching over us forever.
