Obituary of Janet W. Strait

Janet W. Strait, 58, of Tampa passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at her home.  Janet was born in Montgomery, Alabama and lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Atlanta, Georgia before residing in St. Petersburg Beach, Florida.  She graduated from Lakewood High School.  Janet loved the beach and music.  She was a talented pianist and enjoyed playing on her baby grand piano.  She took pleasure in helping others.  She was known as a supportive friend who was deeply concerned with the wellbeing of others and would always be a source of comfort to any in need.  She was immensely proud of her work with the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  Janet’s ability to find happiness in the hardest of times, and turn a negative situation into a positive experience was such a gift.  Her beautiful smile and laughter will be greatly missed by those who loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Sr. and Jean Murrin; and her siblings Marilyn Hitt and Daniel Jr. Murrin.  Janet is survived by her lovingly devoted partner Rich Macy;  her daughter Melissa Grant; sons Joey Winstead and Sean Strait; grandchildren Tripp and Kellianna Grant; nephew Justin Hitt.  Visitation will be Sunday, September 23, 2018 1:30pm-3pm at the funeral home.  A funeral service will be Monday, September 24, 2018 12:00pm at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church.
