Obituary of Arthur William Gibbons
GIBBONS, Arthur William (“Bill”), 76, died on October 10, 2018. A native and life-long resident of Tampa, he was born on August 25, 1942, to Arthur S. Gibbons and Madeleine Pascual Gibbons. He attended Sacred Heart Academy and Jesuit High School (Tampa), and graduated from the Asheville School (North Carolina). He then attended Georgetown University (D.C.) and earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from University of Tampa. In his younger years, he was an active member of the Merrymakers Club and Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla, serving as a Courtier in the Royal Court (1968). He was a faithful member of the Catholic Church. Possessing an incredible knowledge of Tampa and its families, he could amaze you with his instant recall of dates, conversations, and connections. He kept in touch with people near and far, especially by telephone, and never forgot a birthday or anniversary. He worked diligently, particularly in the food delivery and security fields, until his health began to decline in 2016. He is survived by his brothers, M. Gordon Gibbons of McDonough GA & So. Pasadena FL, Rev. Msgr. Robert C. Gibbons of St. Petersburg, and John B. Gibbons of Macon GA; by his sister, Madeleine (“Lynn”) G. Blankenship of Altamont TN; by his beloved nieces and nephews; and by many loving cousins. The family will receive friends at A Life Tribute Funeral Home, 4040 Henderson Blvd., Tampa, on Tuesday, October 16, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ the King Catholic Church (McLoughlin Center), 821 S.
