Obituary of Ann Old Still

On Tuesday June 2 nd , Ann Old Still, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away at the age of 80. Ann was born on April 2, 1940 in Ocala, Florida, and a long-time resident of St. Pete Beach, Florida. Ann graduated in 1958 from Ocala High School, having received nine scholarships including the National Merit Scholarship. She was an accomplished swimmer, competing in water ballet and performing at Silver Springs and Weeki Wachee Springs. Ann received her teaching degree from Florida State University, having majored in Mathematics, with a minor in English. After settling in Tallahassee and teaching for a time, Ann worked for the State of Florida for over twenty years. Upon her retirement from the State, she went on to work as the Credit Union Manager for the FSES Federal Credit Union in Tampa. When she retired from the Credit Union, she became a volunteer for the Veterans Administration of Bay Pines as a National Service Officer where she passionately served hundreds of veterans and their families. She was a board member of the American Ex-POW Gulf Coast Chapter where she proudly served as Adjutant for several years. Ann’s knowledge of and dedication to the Veteran community meant that she was sought after by veterans and widows in her position as National Service Officer, patiently assisting them in the process of collecting benefits or filing appeals. She was thought of fondly here on “The Beach” within her community and was welcoming of her neighbors, befriending virtually all of them. The oldest of five children, she is preceded in death by her loving husband Homer E. Still, beloved daughter Jamie Todd Cox, stepsons Wayne Becker and Jimmy Still and sister Daisy. She is survived by her son David Todd, daughter-in-law Tricia, and granddaughters Noelle and Faith, sister Mary (niece Anna and nephew Kristopher), her sister Elizabeth (husband Clinton, niece Brynna and nephew Kyle) and brother Fred Jr.
