John Pfauser

Obituary of John Pfauser

At the age of 93, Jack Pfauser passed away Monday, July 8, 2020 at Addington Place at College Harbor in St. Petersburg, Florida. Jack was born and raised in Elm Grove, Wisconsin, the son of Edward and Gertrude Pfauser. Jack was preceded in death by his wife Joanne Meurett Pfauser.  He is survived by daughter Marijo Pfauser Reed (Jim Mohrbacher) Oconomowoc, WI; sons John Pfauser Jr. (Margo), Sanford, FL, Paul Pfauser (Kristin) Gilbert, AZ and Christopher Pfauser (Rob Gow) New Buffalo, MI; grandchildren, Rebecca Reed Kleefisch (Joel), Sarah Reed Wilbanks (Tim), Ali Pfauser Mehlhorn (David), Ben Wertz (Katie), Trenton Pfauser (Alexis), Dane Wertz, Bill Young (Michelle), Andy Young and great-grandchildren Ella, Violet, Ansley, Harrison, Reed, Priscilla, Kennedy, Eli, Beatrice, Madison, Cameron, James, Agnes, Aaron and Evelyn.

Jack served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was part of the Allied occupational forces stationed in Germany after the surrender. He attended engineering school at Marquette University and worked at Pressed Steel Tank before joining A.O. Smith as the General Sales Manager of their Truck Products Division.  As a side interest and using his engineering and drafting skills, Jack and his wife Joanne created residential interior and exterior home designs for a local home builder. Jack was also an avid curler and golfer and a longtime member of Westmore Country Club in Brookfield, Wisconsin.

As a young father, Jack traveled often for business but was at every game, concert and special event for his children.  He loved sports and always made sure we were able to take in Milwaukee Braves baseball games, Bucks basketball, Packer games, local auto races, the State Fair, Disney World and even several trips to the Indy 500.  Jack will always be remembered for his quick wit and sarcastic humor which he gratefully passed on to his children.  He was tough but fair, always supportive and taught us all about the lost art of integrity in business. We will miss his kindness, his smile and his contagious laugh.

A memorial service will be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in August. If you wish, you can make a donation in Jack Pfauser’s name to the American Diabetes Association https://www.diabetes.org/ or the Alzheimer's Association https://www.alz.org/.
