I was fortunate enough to meet and spend some of Chris' final and more challenging days with her. I first met Chris through my new neighbor in Bella Vista a few years ago, along with her wonderful family members. My subsequent encounters were unfortunately in the hospital where I know she least wanted to be, but nevertheless, she and I did develop a special connection that I will forever hold in my heart. The more I learn about her, the more I like her, just like her sister, Cindy- we've had a special connection from early on. I, too, have been a lifelong fan of Jimmy Buffett and now whenever I hear his songs playing on my Laid Back Beach Music Playlist, I will always be reminded of my dear friend Chris and have fond memories of her. I know she's now no longer "In The Shelter," rid of all pain, stress & anticipation and enjoying a glass of Chardonnay listening and dancing to "Boat Drinks," mingling with friends and family at "One Particular Harbour" and of course, "Margaritaville." Chris, until we meet again and I have the pleasure of having a glass with you, I will remember you always.

I met Chris many years ago when she came to work as the evening receptionist at the Omaha Country Club in Omaha, Nebraska which is where I worked. Chris always spoke fondly about LeMars, Iowa where she was born and how she grew up there, went through school and left there for additional education and more job opportunities. It was her home town but she moved to Omaha sometime after graduating high school. She spoke of how small the town was especially compared to Omaha but mostly she spoke of her family. She looked forward to going home for the holidays. She missed her mom, dad, sisters and brother, she loved all of them and she was very grateful to have such a wonderful and close family. Michael Lalley (RIP died on 2/6/2013) was the Manager of the Omaha Country Club and eventually my husband, and his friend and Assistant Manager was Robbie Robinson so the three of us knew and worked with Chris. I was thrilled when Robbie and Chris got engaged and even more thrilled when Robbie asked Mick to be his Best Man because we would be attending Chris and Robbie's wedding which was going to be in LeMars so it was a triple bonus for me. It turned out to be one of the best weddings ever and LeMars, was such a warm and welcoming community. Chris's family was the best! I knew right away why Chris loved them so much, they were great, so kind, considerate, down to earth, happy, funny and fun (town and family, two more bonuses)! It really was such a loving, wonderful and fun wedding, definitely one of the best I ever attended and I thought about it for quite some time after we returned to Omaha and we were so grateful to be included. In addition to the wedding, the town, Chris's family and the people that lived in LeMars, made it an even more amazing time and place.
Chris was a wonderful woman and I know she will truly be missed. May she live in the house of the Lord forever, rest in peace my friend. My prayers and thoughts are with her family, God bless all of you and be both proud and grateful to have had such a loving and special Mom, Grandma, Daughter, Sister, Aunt and Cousin, she loved all of you!

Dear Schuster Family,
We are sorry for your loss of Chris. We are so happy we got to share her dream of summer at Lake Okoboji. We will always have fond memories of her from our time together. We especially enjoyed playing cards late into the night and sharing laughs around the table. She will be missed very much. God bless you all, and give you peace and comfort at this sad time.

To Chris’s family- We are very sorry about Chris’s untimely passing. We know you Schuster’s have such a strong bond and can only imagine the sense of loss you must all be experiencing. While I only had a hand full of interactions with Chris, I knew right away she for she had a strong sense of independence, strength, drive and individuality ...and those were qualities I admire to this day. Please know we are praying for you. All our love from her hometown-The Bixenmans
