Our family was truly blessed to have known Clint for over half a century. There has been no truer friend to our parents over the years, and they shared many visits together in Wyoming and Florida. We met Clint through my parents’ custom meat business, but he was so much more than a fellow hunter. Clint was a fine man, an honorable man, a true southern gentleman, and loads of fun to boot. He lived a full and fascinating life, but his deep friendship is what we will all miss. We share so many wonderful memories of Clint, and no doubt he and my father are laughing together again as they reminisce in Heaven.
In loving memory on behalf of my entire family,
Gayle and (late) Don Ferderer & families of Della, Wade, and Duane

Dad loved to balance us kids in one hand. He was a strong guy. The group photo here was taken at a Shriner’s Fish Fry.

To the family of Clint Mitchell, my deepest sympathy for the lost of your love one. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He grew up in Clearwater when it was a great place to live. I enjoyed listening to him talk about growing up in Clearwater.
My favorite memories were the smell of the smoke mullet in the air when he was cooking for the Shriner’s motorcycle team. It was fun watching them all roar into the driveway. I don’t know how they got so many cycles into his garage.
I love to watch Harvey dog ride on the back of Clint’s cycle. Other times you would see Harvey sitting on top of the seat of the car. I will always remember him as a great neighbor.
God bless.

Clint has a daughter and grandson that live out of state.
I am immune compromised and unable to travel due to Covid risk. Not being able to attend my Dad’s funeral in person is not what I want but we will be using the online attendance option provided and supporting each other the best we can from here. I would love to talk to any of you about my Dad. My email is asldvds.tlc@gmail.com. If you prefer to talk on the phone, email me and I will email you back my phone number.
His loving daughter,
Linda

Our condolences to Jamielou, Gene, Rick, Linda and Tim. We will forever cherish our fond memories of Amanda's Grandpa...his special smoked mullet, oysters, elk roast, rides with Grandpa on his motorcycle when I was young and long, enjoyable conversations with him at Jim's when I was older. He would always make me feel special. Love you Grandpa.

Photos from an old Clearwater Sun article they did on Dad and his paint store. He hated this picture because the photographer made him smile but he looks very handsome.

My Dad enjoyed lots of things in life. Mostly simple things. But you were always welcome to join in and he always enjoyed your company.
A day on the boat fishing or cast netting was one of his happiest things. Gathering the poles and heading off to fish from shore was always fun. He loved to fish near the old Clearwater Pass Bridge and we always caught something wherever he took us. Stan’s Fish Camp was another fishing adventure he enjoyed. Some of my favorite memories of him are while cleaning fish in the backyard, frying fish in the garage and hanging around the smoker he made out back by the garage, waiting for the smoked mullet to be ready. He could feed you the most delicious things you ever tasted and tell you how to make them. But, he always held out a little. After years of trying to get him to divulge his secrets, the hush puppies and oyster stew I made from recipes he wrote down for me never tasted quite the same as when he made them. I asked him many times what his secret was and he would just laugh, that little laugh that only he could do.
He had a gift for drawing and mixing color pigments for painting. He drew funny cartoons to entertain us as kids. He could look at any color and tell you exactly how to mix it, how many drops of which pigment in which color base, a unique skill. Of course he painted lots of things for work and he enjoyed doing a great job and admiring his own work. He really liked making things look great with paint. If the sprayer was in the driveway and there was still paint in it, watch out! Something was getting painted!
He loved Florida wildlife, sea life, plants, insects and animals and was very knowledgeable. Most trips anywhere by car or boat included spotting all kinds of birds and plants that you never would have noticed and learning something he knew about them. Somehow he always knew where the bald eagles were nesting. He was excited every time he saw a cardinal. Even hunting for “Ant Lions” in the yard with him was fun. He always found something interesting.
He loved to ride a bicycle. Yep, a plain old bicycle. He loved it! He never got tired of it and loved to watch us kids ride our bikes too. He told stories of bicycle adventures he had as a young boy and how he rode all over Clearwater with a card folded up in his spokes to make a motor sound. He was still able to have fun riding bikes with his youngest Grandson and for many years after.
Dad loved to give people nicknames...everyone. Sometimes he could remember a nickname better than a real name which made for some pretty funny conversations. If you didn’t have one yet, you would get one soon enough. They were usually funny. If he gave you a good one, you know he loved you.
On any summer evening you could find him puttering his yard and admiring his grape vines, several kinds of citrus trees, pecan trees and one special avocado tree among lots of other plants he enjoyed caring for. Or he might be sitting in a lawn chair pondering the perfect shades of green to paint his house...again. It always was the most perfect shade of green. Every time. He loved his home on Madison Avenue. The little leaning garages, the “nut hut” out back, Gram’s house, the giant mullet smoker, the little boat in the driveway, the truck in the yard, the oak trees, the old paint truck, the salvaged city street lights, the grape arbor, the gardenia bush, the screened porch with the white painted iron furniture and the garage with all of it’s parties, fish frys and oyster shucking memories. That house was his heart. It held all of his best memories. Memories of family, friends and lots of fun with a few cigars and a cocktail or two here and there.
I carry his heart with me.
His daughter,
“Linda Gail”

What a beautiful tribute to your Dad. He was one of a kind. What great memories of him. He was someone you could talk with and he did not hold back what he thought. I admired him for that. I was lucky enough to get a nick name "The Jude"
