Obituary of Catherine Gillette-Lyons

Gillette-Lyons, Catherine “Nancy”, 87, of St. Petersburg FL passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021. Nancy was pre-deceased by her husband, Walter Vincent Lyons; former husband, Robert P. Gillette and son, Paul William Gillette. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Anne Gillette of St. Petersburg; son, Robert P. (Jana) Gillette, Jr. of Wakefield, Rhode Island; grandchildren, Maleah and Tyler Gillette of Wakefield, Rhode Island; step-daughter, June Lyons Pearsall and her daughter, Sarah Pearsall of Marietta, GA; lifelong friend, Doris Schweitzer of West Palm Beach; parrot, Dodo; cats, Patty and Bear; cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

Nancy was born in Montclair, NJ to the late John J. and Katheryn M. O’Hara and lived in Bloomfield, NJ until she graduated Nursing School from Orange Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. After various nursing jobs in Morris County, NJ, her and her current husband retired to Greenville, SC where she went back to school to become certified in Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Counseling. Nancy was a devout Catholic and she was a parishioner of St. Mary’s in Greenville, SC and then St. Paul’s in St. Petersburg. She was a member of the Pebble Creek Country Club in Taylor’s, SC, and an avid bridge player, golfer and artist. 

 

Nancy’s memorial service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive Greenville, SC 29609 in the summer or fall of 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy’s name to Zaksee’s Parrot Sanctuary at https://zaksee.com/donation/ or the Alzheimer Association at act.alz.org/donate
