Obituary of Joan Smith

Joan Smith, 86 of Largo, Florida passed away at home 3/10/21. She resided in Florida approximately 52 years. She was born in Plainfield, New Jersey. She retired from working in the medical field & silk flower designer. She was preceded in death by her Parents Ivan and Anne Kenyon, and her Husband Arthur R Smith. Joan is survived by her Brother Ivan Alan Kenyon in Georgia, Sister Lila Lewis who lives in Colorado, and four Children: Deborah Daniels in South Carolina, Glenn Smith, Phyllis Pylant, and Donna Evans who all reside in Florida, along with seven Grand Children & twelve Great Grandchildren. Joan was very artistically inclined and when her hands were nimbler, she enjoyed sewing, oil painting, water painting, crocheting, knitting, quilting, silk flower arrangements, and designing applicates for various clothing, towels, baby showers and Christmas gifts. She shared her love and talent with whoever inquired. She had a quick Witt that those she encountered enjoyed her humor. Joan believed in tradition and was the nucleus of the family for many years establishing holiday celebrations and gatherings. She passed on her love of tradition to her family. We will always have fond memories of holidays, birthdays (golden girls’ birthday events) and life celebrations. Funeral services will be held at Bay Pines National Cemetery by Anderson McQueen on Wednesday 3/24/2021 at 1.30 PM. We will have a “Celebration of Life Gathering”, following service at the War Veterans Memorial Park, shelter #5. Please, no flowers.
