While it's been over 40 years since I had the pleasure of spending any time with "Merce" I was deeply saddened to learn of her passing in ND Magazine. I got to know her at ND and kept in touch after school for some time in Chicago. Kathy was one of those rare people who made you feel special whenever you were with her. I remember once going bowling with her in Chicago, she whipped me in every game! The fun we were having made it not matter at all who was winning - she was always the same Merce, huge smile every time I saw her. What a wonderful person.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope your memories of a terrific wife and mother will give you some peace.

John - my deepest condolences to you and your family. While it's been years since I got to work with you, you were kind enough to welcome the team to your home, and Kathy's friendliness and enthusiasm with the group can never be forgotten. Your family remains in my prayers as you grieve.
In sympathy,
Pam

I knew Kathy as Chrissy’s momma and consider myself lucky enough to have known her. Even though I only spent time with her on several occasions, she made a deep impact on me. They say it’s not what people say that matter, but how they make you feel. She made me feel special and loved from the second I met her. She seemed to have that effect on everyone she met. That’s rare. She was rare. She created a beautiful life and family and her spirit lives on. Here’s to us all being a little more like Kathy!

Kathy was probably one of the nicest people I had the pleasure of knowing. I am just so sad to hear she passed away. She was such a wonderful mom. You girls were so lucky and she was so much fun. I don’t think I ever heard her say an unkind word about anyone.

I was lucky enough to call Kathy a friend for 25 yrs. I never met anyone like her since. She was the most genuine person I have ever know
She was funny, kind and loved her family to the moon and back. I will never forget all the laughter, tears and time I spend with her. She sure loved when I worked HSN! She will always be in my heart. She and John raised two devoted and loving girls and the always had fun doing it. Miss you Kath

Kathy & I shared, many of the same friends, our children attended preschool together, and we lived in the same neighborhood for years. Kathy knew everyone, she’d start a conversation with “you know so &so” and I’d always say NO. I don’t know but admired how she managed to meet and make friends with so many neighbors.
My fondest memories were of our annual Birthday brunches. Kathy, our friend, Noriko, and I celebrated our birthdays with a brunch or lunch and little gifts every year. My birthday was just a week after her passing and it was very difficult to celebrate without my dear friend. I’ve searched for a photo of these get together, but it seems we talked, laughed, and caught up so much that sadly we didn’t take the time for a photo. I am sharing the last time we were together, Christmas in 2019.
John, Amy, and Chrissy, I’ve watched how strong you have been during the past difficult months. I know how heavy my heart is for the loss of a dear friend. I cannot imagine what you feel but I know you have shared many happy times and an adventurous life with Kathy. Sending love to each of you.
