Obituary of Theresa J Ray

Theresa J. Ray passed away peacefully from quintessential old age with her daughters at her side on May 4 in St. Petersburg.

Born January 8, 1928 in Oakland Beach, RI, Terry was married for 54 years to the late MGen. Irvin G. Ray. They raised three kids while enjoying all that life in the 50’s and 60’s had to offer... including ownership of the infamous Starlite Lounge, where all three kids had their first part- time jobs.  Terry and Irv moved to St. Petersburg in 1979, where they enjoyed years of boating, travel and friends. Terry was active in many organizations, including Infinity, volunteer at Ronald McDonald House, member of the Stuart Society of MFA, an usher at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, among others. In 1998, she was honored as Princess of the Royal Court at the SPYC Commodore’s Ball for her service in Infinity.  Terry and Irv enjoyed a long adventurous life together, traveling the world extensively with the Air Force, followed by a wonderful civilian career and vacations all over the world with dear friends.

She is survived by her children Bobbi Ray Carter (Jerry), Karen Ray Mathews (Bill) and Col (ret) Michael T. Ray (Shelley), grandchildren Chris, Katie, Noelle, Zach, Brian, Drew and Sarah, and great-grandchildren Peter and Theodore.  The end of an era....
