Obituary of John Kevin Callahan
John Kevin Callahan, 62, of St. Petersburg passed away September 24, 2021, at St. Anthony’s Hospital after a yearlong battle with cancer.
Kevin was born on May 10, 1959, at St. Anthony’s Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of St. Petersburg where he attended North Shore Elementary School, 16th Street Middle School and St. Petersburg High. Kevin retired from the City of St. Petersburg after 19 years as a Licensed Electrical Inspector.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, John Patrick Callahan and Lesley Lee Stalker Callahan. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; brother, Patrick Callahan (Susan); brothers-in-law, Michael Manfrey (Kathy) and Paul Manfrey (Jennifer); sisters-in-law, Barbara Vogelstein (John) and Paula Durspek; nieces and nephews, Sean and Brian Callahan, Greg Durspek (Sharon), Michelle, Samuel, Avery, and Olivia Manfrey; great niece, Lillie Callahan and great nephew, Lincoln Durspek.
Kevin was an avid sports fan and planned his days and weekends around the Florida Gators, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Tampa Bay Rays games. He also enjoyed many years of playing golf.
A visitation will be held Saturday, October 9th from 12:30 to 2:30 pm at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. MLK Street, North, St. Petersburg, FL with a graveside service immediately following at Memorial Park Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 6th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Bayou Country Club, 7979 Bayou Club Blvd., Largo, FL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The St. Anthony’s Hospital Foundation at www.stanthonysfoundation.org/.
