Barbara Shaw

Obituary of Barbara Weber Shaw

Shaw, Barbara Weber “Barbara Ann,” 80, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away October 7, 2022 at Oak Manor Hospice Center in Largo after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born and raised in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, she received both her undergraduate and master’s degrees from Penn State University. She settled in St. Petersburg, Florida where she worked for over 30 years in the Pinellas County School System as an elementary school teacher and educational diagnostician. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph A. Weber and Dorothy Tarr Weber. She is survived by her husband, Walter C. Shaw; her daughters, Rebecca Shaw Widen (Shaw), Mary Beth Brown (Shaw), and Marcy Lynn Shaw; and her grandchildren, Audrey Elizabeth Brown and Mack Austin Brown. Barbara loved spending time with her husband, family, friends, and dogs; traveling to new places; attending college football games; and shelling along the beaches of Sanibel and Captiva Islands. She valued education and instilled its importance in her daughters and her students. She was always the first to try new things and was the life of any party. Her beautiful, indomitable spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
