Obituary of Sheila Marie Draut
SHEILA MARIE DRAUT
Sheila passed away on April 22, 2023 suddenly from natural causes. She passed peacefully
in her happy place sitting in her favorite chair on the front porch of the house in Saint
Petersburg, Florida that she shared with her loving partner of 15 years, John J McNulty.
Sheila was born in Chicago in 1956 and raised in Arlington Heights, Illinois as the eighth of
ten children in the family. She lived in Illinois, Hawaii, and Florida before settling down in
Saint Petersburg.
She and John were beloved partners in life and she enjoyed time with her friends and family,
and loved conversation, reading, music, kayaking, hiking, traveling, camping, and generally
laughing and playing and having fun. She was intelligent, caring and thoughtful, and had an
excellent sense of humor that made everyone around her relax and enjoy their time with her.
She worked for 37 years in a variety of jobs, many related to gardening and landscaping.
She was a wonderfully talented gardener and created a beautiful display of local and exotic
flowering plants at her home, maintained and curated an array of rare orchids and staghorn
ferns, and routinely gifted away many of those beautiful plants to friends and family.
She loved all living creatures and adopted and nurtured a variety of beloved pets beginning at
an early age in her life, including a wild baby squirrel she named Mr Jingles, horses,
numerous dogs and cats including her current love-cat Rollo whom she rescued and jokingly
called Cats Domino.
She is survived by her life partner John McNulty, four brothers; Michael Draut, Terrence Draut
(Alejandra Ameijeiras), Timothy Draut, and Robert Draut, four sisters; Patricia Diggs, Danette
Draut, Megan (Gary) Kurek, and Frances Draut, and many more loving friends and family.
Sheila was predeceased by her father Michael Draut, her mother Frances Draut, and her
brother Dennis Draut (Geraldine).
We will all miss her dearly and always remember how beautiful and awesome she was.
