Norman Joseph Heagerty, 89, of St. Petersburg, passed away on May 25, 2023. Born and raised in St. Petersburg, Norman lived his entire life here. He attended St. Paul’s Catholic School and graduated from St. Leo High School. Following his time in the Naval Reserves, where he served for two years, Norman completed two years of active duty. Norman furthered his education at Florida State University's School of Business, which led to his successful 30-year career as an IRS Officer. It was during Norman’s time at FSU that he met his wife of 64 years, Anna.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents, William and Kathryn Heagerty, his son, Norman Heagerty Jr., and his siblings Harvey, James, Maureen Heagerty, and Ruth Demetree. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Anna Heagerty, and his two daughters, Elizabeth Agresta (John) and Marie Stofer (Mike). Norman also leaves behind cherished grandchildren Gregory (Margot) and Kevin Fulham, Michael and Matthew Stofer, and his great-grandchild, Kaiden Fulham.

In retirement, Norman dedicated his time and energy as a volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. This service allowed him to serve the poor and make a positive impact in his community.

Norman's funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in St. Petersburg, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society - St. Paul’s Catholic Church, St. Petersburg.

Norman will be remembered for his love for his wife, Anna, his dedication to his family, and his devotion to his Catholic faith, as well as his commitment to serving those in need. Now that he has found his eternal home, his presence will be deeply missed. However, we can take comfort in knowing that Norman is where he always aimed to be – home in Heaven.
