Obituary of Jane Caldwell

Jane Caldwell, 69 of St. Petersburg, FL passed away May 19, 2023 at her home of natural causes. She was born April 29, 1954 in dalls, Texas, and moved to Breckenridge, TX with her family in 1968. Upon graduation from Breckenridge High School, she attended Tarleton State University. Following in her fathers military footsteps, Jane joined the US Air Force where she met her husband while serving in Athens, Greece. Upon returning to the states, they both enjoyed being stationed at Dover AFB for 15+ years. After retiring Jane and Ed moved to St Petersburg, FL to be near family. 

Following her retirement, Jane started a new career accepting a position at Community Preschool in St. Petersburg serving mostly at-risk families. She fell in love with the children (and they with her) she taught and became part of the preschool family until its closing in 2020. She was a member of the National Association for Education of Young Children plus many other educational organizations. As one teacher commented, " We were all more to Jane than just coworkers, she counted us as friends and family". The Caldwell family were members of Allendale Methodist Church for many years. 

Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Caldwell; parents William (Bill) Coppeak and Marguarite Coppeak. She is survived by her beloved step-mother of 58 years, Allie Ruth Coppeak; a step-son Daniel Caldwell, Milford, Deleware; brother Mark Coppeak (Karen) and sister Susan Coppeak of Colorado; Grandsons Jackson and Owen Caldwell, and Nieces Erin and Danye.

Graveside services will be held June 10, 2:00 pm at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5750 49th Street, St. Petersburg, FL 33709.
