Obituary of Nina Glover

Nina F Glover, 88 of St Petersburg passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023 at Westminster Palms. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orval and Helen French and her husband Rodney C Glover, Jr.. Nina is survived by her sons Tom and Rodney III (Champ) and her grandsons Matt and John Glover, grand daughter in law Jamie Glover and great grandsons Elliott and Theo Glover. Born in Sacramento, California in 1934, she attended Cornell University where she met her husband, Rodney. After several years at Ft. Huachuca, they moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and lived there for over 20 years until retiring down to Punta Gorda, Florida. Nina was a very outgoing and energetic person. She was very active in sailboat racing, especially with family in the Thistle Class. The family was very active sailing at Cowan Lake in Ohio In 1969, Rod, Nina and their elder son Champ won the Thistle MidWinters in St Petersburg, Florida. She also skippered multiple times in women’s sailing events. In later years, she and her husband Rodney did a lot of sailboat cruising both on Lake Erie and the Gulf of Mexico. For years they would cruise down to the Florida Keys and the Bahamas for the winter. She has been a long-time member of the St Petersburg Yacht club and very active in the women’s sailing group, Salty Sisters. She is also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved to play the piano and would perform with a group called the Nauti Cats at various events and would play solo piano at various events. At this time, there is not a date yet set for a memorial service.
