Alexander Beaumont

Obituary of Alexander Beaumont

Alexander Beaumont, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died peacefully on Monday, June 19, 2023 in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was 91 years old.

Alex was born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1931 to parents Jessie and John Beaumont. His earliest memories were of learning to play the piano by ear, receiving a full merit scholarship to a prestigious private school, and spending his Friday nights at the Palais — the local dance hall. In fact, he met his wife, Isabella, at the Palais shortly after the war at the age of 15. According to him, it was love at first sight. He would always say, “We met in a revolving door and have been going around and around ever since.” And around and around they went for 76 years.

Alex and Isa were married at 20 years old. Two years later, they had their first child, Alexander Beaumont Jr. Shortly thereafter, the family moved from Scotland to Baltimore, Maryland in search of more opportunities. He became a Mensa member, graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Baltimore, and worked successfully as an accountant for many years. While in Baltimore, they continued to grow their family, and welcomed their daughter, Michele Beaumont.

Alex and his family moved to the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for a new job and new adventures in the 1970s. He continued to work his way up through several companies and eventually retired as a CFO. In their later years, Alex and Isa settled down in Florida. He enjoyed his retirement, continuing to play the piano whenever possible as well as developing a love for tennis, pool, darts, chess (rarely losing a match at any), and even honing some magic skills.

Alex was a kind and silly man. He was a brilliant man. He was a well-loved man, and a man of great faith. And more than anything, he will be a greatly missed man.

Alexander Beaumont is survived by his wife, Isabella; their daughter, Michele, and her husband, Joseph; granddaughter, Aubrey; daughter-in-law, Teresa; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Alexander, and by his brother, Ian, and sister, Winnie, and her husband Earl.

A graveside ceremony will be held on June 24, 2023 at Sunnyside Cemetary at 1:00 pm on Saturday at 5300 19th St N, Saint Petersburg, FL 33714. Followed by a luncheon at Birch and Vine.
