Obituary of Phyllis Lockhart
Phyllis Ann Lockhart, 93, of St. Petersburg passed away peacefully on July 9, 2023 at the Masonic Home of Florida in the Palliative Care Unit with her family by her side. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, but lived in many places throughout her life, both in the United States and abroad. She always loved Florida, so she settled in St. Petersburg permanently 36 years ago. Phyllis is survived by her daughter Jennifer (Mark) Peacock and sons Darius (Terry) Hickling, John (Denise) Hickling, David Lockhart and Donald (Christine) Lockhart, Jr., as well as her grandchildren Marcus, Ian, Evan, Sean, Brian, Shawn, Justine, Jessica, great granddaughter Kate, Anaiceta, Ana, Isabelle and nephews Jeffrey and Michael Cook and her niece Mary Ann Nelin. Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, John Nelson, her mother, Eleanor Roloff Nelson, husband, Donald Lockhart Sr., sisters Marjorie Jane Cook and Loraine Lizette Kuhlen and stepchildren Karen Lockhart and Jeff Lockhart. Phyllis was a loving wife and mother. She was an avid reader and she enjoyed exercising her mind by solving crossword puzzles, playing bridge, solitaire and many other card games, and she loved shopping on Amazon!
She enjoyed watching television and going to the movies. She especially loved Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy and she was fantastic at solving the words and correctly answering the questions. She was also a big fan of baseball and the Tampa Bay Rays. Her beautiful smile and spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. Phyllis’s memorial service will be held on Thursday July 13, 2023 from 4-6pm at the Anderson McQueen funeral home.
Thank you to the staff and nurses at the Masonic Home of Florida for the tremendous help and care they gave our mother while she lived at the Masonic Home.
