Obituary of Michael David Woods

Woods, Michael “Mike” D, 61 of St. Petersburg passed away July 30, 2023 at home. Born and raised in St. Petersburg he graduated from St. Petersburg High School and Pinellas County Vocational Institute, where he earned his Electrical Journeyman’s card. Mike is survived by his wife, Kimberly; children Amanda (Kris) Kovar, Phillip (Megan) Woods; grandchildren Madison and Owen Kovar; parents Horace “Woody” and Rachel Woods; sisters Valerie (Phil) Roe, Vickie (Brian) Lewis, Michele Woods, Robyn (Frank) England and numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was employed by Duke Energy for over 30 years. He was active in coaching baseball at Fossil Park and Northeast High School for over 3 decades. In recent years he enjoyed trips to Alaska, Yellowstone and most recently a trip to Georgia with the family. Mike was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal and fair. Mike was clever and full to the brim with the knowledge gained through all of his life experiences. He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. Mike truly loved each of them – and if you knew him you knew it. When his time came, he carried himself with dignity and strength. He will be missed dearly.
