Nancy Driver-Gleason

Obituary of Nancy Driver-Gleason

Nancy Driver Gleason, 87 years, of St. Petersburg FL, peacefully passed away on July 30th 2023 with family by her side. Although Alzheimer’s had affected her memory, Nancy never lost her memory of family and friends.

Nancy was born on December 14, 1935 to Helen and Joe Huffman in Lexington KY. The family moved to St. Pete when she was 3 years old with her older brothers, Billy and Joe.  Nancy attended St. Paul Catholic School in St. Pete for all 12 years of schooling where she enjoyed participating in every sport available.  She went on to St. Pete Junior College for her AA degree and first worked as a dental assistant before later moving on to her favorite career as a real estate agent.  Nancy always enjoyed working in real estate and meeting new people daily.  Nancy was always social and never knew a stranger.

Nancy met Malcolm Driver Jr. at the St. Pete Yacht Club on a blind date.  They married on January 30th 1962 and went on to have 3 children; Douglas, Cynthia, and Diane.  When off on camping excursions with many family and friends, Malcolm’s CB radio handle was the “hyper 5”.  That very well sums up the Driver family.

After Malcolm’s passing in 1995, Nancy was fortunate to reunite and marry John Gleason, a high school friend.

In 2005, Nancy finally retired from real estate to spend most of her time entertaining her grandchildren or piecing together puzzles at the lake house.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Malcolm Driver Jr., second husband, John Gleason, daughter, Diane Driver Brumbelow, brothers, Billy and Joe Huffman and sister-in-laws, Jane Keresting and Ivey Driver McFarlin.

She is survived by her children, Doug and Cynthia, grandchildren, Cameron, Emily, Erica, Elyssa, Chase, Lauren, and many nieces and nephews and even a few great grands.

Family greeting will be held at Anderson McQueen Sunday, August 6, 2023 from 2-4 pm.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in St. Pete Monday August 7, 2023 at 10am and burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer’s association at ALZ.org
