Obituary of Janet M Ramsey

Janet M. Ramsey, 75, of Tampa passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Moffit Cancer Center.  Born in Swindon, England on October 1, 1947, she was one of ten children of the late William and Doreen (Gleed) McKay.  She met her best friend and soon to be husband in England in 1975 and on July 31, 1976, she married Marvin Ramsey and began her adventure as a military wife.  Together they traveled the world and raised their family.  They started in Tampa, and while Marvin served in Korea, she returned to England to await his return.  Other assignments took them to Spain, North Carolina, Germany, Las Vegas, and back to Tampa where they remained following Marvin’s retirement.  Janet devoted her life to her husband, children, grandchildren, and family.  She was easy-going and always encouraging.  Family and friends were always welcomed into her home.  She enjoyed cruising out of Florida with family and friends.  She returned to England, as often as she could, to visit family and friends, often going camping, pubbing and dancing.  Thanksgiving and Christmas were always celebrated with much enthusiasm.  Her great love was her grandchildren and her dog, Rosie.  

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Ann, Jean, Maureen, William, George, and Colin.   

She will be remembered and missed by her husband of 47 years, Marvin E. Ramsey; her son, Jason Loughran; her daughter, Tammy Ramsey; her grandson, Ayden and her granddaughter, Zoey; her siblings, Phil, June and Wendy and many nieces and nephews.   

Family and friends will gather on Thursday, September 7th at Anderson McQueen Family Tribute Center, 2201 Dr MLK Street North, St Petersburg for visitation from 9:30am until time of service at 10:30am.  Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell at 2pm.
