Obituary of Gladys Lucille Shook

Gladys Lucille Shook, 95, of St. Petersburg, FL passed away on September 12, 2023. Gladys was born on February 20, 1928, to James and Emma Brass of Muncy, PA. After graduating from Muncy High School, Gladys earned a BA degree from Lycoming College and an MA degree from Bucknell University in the field of education. She subsequently taught elementary students in both Muncy, PA and Springfield, OH.

Gladys married her high school sweetheart, Raymond E Shook, Jr, on December 23, 1948. They journeyed through life together and moved to St. Petersburg, FL in 1972 where they owned and operated several businesses together. She worked tirelessly side-by-side with her husband until her retirement in 2017.

Gladys is survived by her son and daughter, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was a fine example of a life well lived – a remarkable, energetic teacher, businesswoman, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was loved and cherished by all who knew her and will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
