Obituary of Donald J Picard

Donald Joseph Picard, 86, of St. Petersburg, passed away peacefully after a long illness in Bayfront Hospital's Hospice Unit on October 10, 2023.  He was predeceased by his parents Clifford and Margaret (Lucey) Picard.  Left to remember Don with fond and loving memories are his wife Patricia (Sullivan) Picard, son Kelly Picard (Charlotte), sister Debbie Cram (Greg), granddaughters Mai-Yin Picard (husband Kevin Goss) and Mai-Lee Picard (fiancé Alex Klikunas), great-granddaughter Liena Goss, stepdaughter Lynne Thomas (Ken), stepgrandson Shawn Bald (wife Maria Fay), and great-granddaughter Emily Bald, sister-in-law Kate Kirsten, helpful nephew Jim Sullivan (Kathy), caring cousin Sue Fox (David), and Don's beloved beagle, Lindee.

Don was born in Springfield, Mass., and was graduated from American International College, Springfield, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.  In his early career, he was the Accounting Manager in several Massachusetts corporations, including Union Butterfield, Athol, Mass., New England's largest manufacturer of consumable tools, which was one of many companies owned by Litton Industries, Inc., a diversified multibillion, multinational "Fortune 200" corporation, headquartered in Beverly Hills, Cal.  Due to his expertise in accounting, Don was tapped by Litton Industries to join the parent corporation as their Domestic Tax Manager, with the controllers of some 40 Litton-owned companies across the United States reporting directly to him to ensure compliance with their state and federal taxes.  He was a member of the Tax Executives Institute, Los Angeles Chapter.

After 25 years with Litton, Don retired and moved from Beverly Hills, Cal., to St. Petersburg in 1995.  He and his wife settled at Point Brittany where Don, in the early years, was a member of their condominium's Board of Directors, serving as their Treasurer for six years, enhancing their accounting system.
