Obituary of David Aston George White

David White, 74, of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away on October 12, 2023. David was born June 25, 1949 in Kingston, Jamaica. The son of Ivy and Orville White, he attended Excelsior High School and ran track and field. He graduated from the University of the West Indies with a bachelor’s degree in Geology. In 1987, David migrated to the U.S. with his wife, Novelette, and children, Damien and Melissa. He lived in New Jersey for 32 years, where he had a successful career as an International Flight Planner for a private jet company. After his retirement in 2019, he moved to St. Petersburg.

David loved traveling, running, biking and model making. He visited Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Rarotonga, Peru and Mexico, and traveled throughout Europe. He was dedicated to physical fitness and often was seen running on the sand at North Shore Park and biking to the St. Pete Pier. His talents included recognition for his achievements in military aircraft model making. He won “Best of Show” and “Best Aircraft” at the Pelican 2023 Scale Model Show in Oldsmar.

David was admired by many: a man always full of life and striving to live his best life. He was friendly, good natured, peaceful and loved by his many friends. He was an amazing and supportive father to Damien and Melissa. Family was very important to David, and he moved to St. Petersburg to live close to his children.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his son, Damien, his daughter, Melissa, his daughter-in-law, Jessica, and his former spouse, Novelette.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of this wonderful man and father on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 6 p.m., at Anderson-McQueen Family Tribute Center, 2201 Dr. MLK Jr. Street N, St. Petersburg, Fla.

David’s bright spirit and love of color has inspired the family to dress brightly for the services. All are welcome to do the same.
