Obituary of Johnny Haskins

Haskins, Johnny, 97 of Gulfport, FL passed away December 20, 2023, at Baldomero Lopez State Veterans’ Nursing Home. Born and raised in Highland City, FL, he graduated from Lakeland High School, served in the Navy during WWII, after the war he earned an associate degree from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL.
He was preceded in death by his wife Anice Haskins; and two grandchildren Jenise Gaskin and Luke Sandifer. Johnny is survived by his 4 children Sharon Gaskin, Cindy Sandifer, Allen Haskins, Brett Haskins; grandchildren Matt Gaskin, Megan Stacy, Elyssa Haskins, Hillary Moore, JD Haskins, and Nathan Haskins; great-grandchildren Drake, Sawyer, and Ellie.

For many years Johnny and his wife Anice owned and operated an insurance agency in Largo, Florida. In his younger years, he and Anice enjoyed dancing and were quite good at doing the jitterbug.  After retirement Johnny enjoyed camping, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, and volunteering at First Baptist Church, St. Petersburg, Fl.

Johnny’s graveside service will be Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 11am at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to dav.org/get-help-now/: 1-877-426-2838.
