David Dalrymple

Obituary of David Logan Dalrymple

David Dalrymple, 91, was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He was the youngest son of George and Florence (Logan) Dalrymple. He was married to the love of his life, Madeleine England for over 50 years.

He grew up in New Bedford and graduated from New Bedford Vocational Technical High School where he studied carpentry. He enlisted in the Air Force after graduation and served during the Korean Conflict as an MP. After his honorable discharge he continued in the Air Force Reserves. In 1957, he married Maddie and they moved to Florida. There he became a letter carrier for the US Postal Service in PInellas Park for over 35 years.

David was an avid golfer, bowler and sports enthusiast. He and Maddie traveled often for her bowling tournaments all around the world. In his later years, he enjoyed dining with his friends on Friday nights and bowling with friends at the Seminole Lanes. He loved his weekly conversations with his great grandnephew, Mike, who called to tell him about his running races and talk baseball, bowling and other sports. He especially enjoyed watching his great grandniece Victoria run her first (and last) 1/2 Marathon and Mike run his first Marathon in Disney. He also loved attending baseball games with Mike, Victoria and his niece Corron when they came to visit him. He also enjoyed his calls with his niece Martha, letters from Kim and Corron's infamous fudge on Christmas.

He was predeceased by his wife Madeleine, their son Barry, his brothers Edward and George, and his sisters, Gwen Brierley and Mary Jane Stowell. He is survived by eleven nieces and nephews, who thought of him often and kept in touch with him.

David's family would like to especially thank Kathy Hahmann who was one of David's friends who helped support him throughout the years.

David requested to have a private burial at Bay Pines National Cemetery where he will be reunited with his love, Maddie.
