Obituary of Mason J. Bower

Bower, Mason J., 101, of St. Petersburg, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000 at Edward White Hospital. Born in Caton, NY, he came here in 1962 from Corning, NY where he owned and operated MJ and LL Bower Real Estate, Home Building and Insurance. He served in the Navy during WWI. In Corning, NY, he was an 87 year life member of American Legion Post 746 and member of the VFW and the Scottish Rite. He was also Past President for the Corning Board of Realtors in Corning and the Chemung Valley Home Builders Association. He served as Past County Commander of American Legion Post in Steuben County, NY. Locally, he was a member of Riviera United Methodist Church, Northside Lodge #283, and an honorary member of Nitram Lodge. He also belonged to the Egypt Temple in Tampa, FL. Survivors include two sons, Dr. Lewis L. Bower, St. Petersburg and Rev. M. James Bower, Richmond, Indiana; one niece, Ruby Tobey, St. Petersburg, FL; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one great, great granddaughter; and several other nieces and nephews. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes & Cremation Tribute Center-9th Street Chapel, St. Petersburg, FL. Interment will be in Painted Post, NY.
