Obituary of Christine Russell Hollins

Hollins, Christine Russell, 87, of St. Petersburg, FL, died Friday May 5, 2000 at home under hospice care. She was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky and attended Western Kentucky State Teachers College. She moved to St. Petersburg in 1935 with her husband, the late Maurice L. Hollins. She was a devoted wife who loved the outdoors and accompanied her husband on many fishing and hunting excursions. A dedicated angler for 65 years, she participated in many Tarpon Tournaments in Boca Grande, FL and won the Ladies Day Tournament in 1996 and the Boca Grande Chamber of Commerce Tournament in 1988. When not traveling, she could usually be found working in her yard and garden at home. She was a homemaker and member of the Pasadena Community Church, the Junior League of St. Petersburg, and the Museum of Fine Arts. Survivors include three daughters: Sandra H. Jemison, Treasure Island, FL; Patricia H. Kohler, Durham, NC; Robin H. Nitz, St. Petersburg, FL; one son, Dixie M. Hollins, Boca Grande, FL; nine grandchildren: Maurice L. Jemison, Boca Raton, FL; Leslie Jemison, Palm Harbor, FL; Kell H. Jemison, St. Petersburg, FL; Bryce A. Jemison, Crystal River, FL; Susannah Lyon, Inglis, FL; Louis D. Kohler, Greensboro, NC; Christine Duerson, St. Petersburg, FL; Amy Kramer, Jacksonville, FL; Jennifer Cox, Asheville, NC; and nine great-grandchildren.
