Obituary of Robert Lee Allen

Allen, Robert Lee, Jr., 77, of St. Petersburg, died Wednesday November 22, 2000 at home. Born in Tampa, he lived in West Palm Beach and Miami and came here in 1949 after a medical discharge from the Army Air Corps, having served in Italy during WWII and retiring as a 2nd Lieutenant. He was the son of Dr. Robert L. Allen, former pastor of the First United Methodist Church of St. Petersburg. He was a 1947 graduate of Duke University. He retired as an insurance broker from West Coast Insurance, now known as American Phoenix. He was a member of the Polowogs and the St. Petersburg Bat Boys, Past President of Lakewood Country Club, the SAE Alumni Association, Duke Alumni Association, Squires Club and the St. Petersburg Golf Association. He was a member of First Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Betty Bryan Allen; 2 sons, Robert L. ?Lee? Allen, III of St. Petersburg and Eddie Bryan Allen of Jacksonville; a daughter, Cathy Allen Keith of St. Petersburg; a sister, Margaret LeCompte of St. Petersburg; and 5 grandchildren.
