Obituary of John L. Bevill

Bevill, John L., 82, of St. Petersburg, died Tuesday November 21, 2000 after a short illness. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, he came here in 1980 from Sherrard, Illinois. He was a retired high school teacher after teaching for 30 years in the Rock Island City School System in Illinois. He was a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during WWII and was Presbyterian. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member and past president and club secretary of the St. Petersburg Shrine Club; a 51-year member of Elvins-Ionic Lodge #154 AF & AM, moose Lodge 1145; a member of the Westgate High Twelve Club in St. Petersburg; and a member of Ambassadors Shrine Club, Egypt Shrine, Tampa. Survivors include 2 daughters, Catherine Myers of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Sherry Holderby of Plymouth, Michigan; 2 sons, John C. Bevill of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Toby R. Bevill of Cider Rapids, Iowa; a sister, Florine Almon of Birmingham, Alabama; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
