Pat,
I was very sorry to hear of Jim's passing. It was only a month or six weeks ago that we last talked and Jim seemed to be in very good spirits and growing stronger. It seems way too soon for him to be leaving us.
I have so many memories of you and Jim over almost thirty years. One of my favorites, which neither Susan nor I will ever forget, is the trip we took in the rented motor home to Jacksonville for the Gator Bowl game. We'd stayed at Jacksonville Beach once or twice and thought we could save some money by renting the motor home and staying in it. As it turned out, it got about six miles per gallon and we spent enough on gas that we could have had very nice hotel rooms! By the time we got up to Jacksonville and the Gator Bowl parking lot on Saturday afternoon, Susan was ready to rock and roll but you, Jim and I all wanted to take a nap before the game. Susan wasn't a happy camper! That wasn't the best part, though. That weekend Jacksonville was in the midst of an Arctic cold spell and the temperature Saturday night got down to 19 degrees. Guess what? The heater in the motor home wasn't working! It was a really cold night and we slept with all the clothes and blankets we could find. All things considered, it may not have been one of our best outings, but it was surely one of the most memorable.
Andy
