Francati Family......
WOW....what a bummer to come across this. I just happened to stumble on this when a group of us where looking for old friends who use to hang out on Pass-a-grille Beach across from Frank Hurley Park. Cathy use to be one of the summer gang who layed around roasting in the sun and floating in the surf with one of the best smiles of anyone on the beach. She would always chat with everyone about school and her dreams. She was always facinated or stories and what I would see since getting getting on the SPFD. As time went by.....the beach changed and everyone kinda headed off in different diections on the road of life and lost touch. It wasn't until a last weekend that a fewo f the old gang got to gether at Woodies on Blind Pass and started to reminist about the good old days at the beach. Even after all these years since her passing....I know her passing will take the wind out of everyones sails. So on behalf of the Pass a grille beach gang.....we offer our deepest condolences to the family.

David and the Francati Family, I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. As you know, Cathy was very special.
I just found out about Cathy yesterday and she has been in my thoughts ever since. I pulled out the old SPCHS year books last night and reminisced about the wondeful times that we had back then. Yes, I too, used to hang with Cathy on Pass A Grille beach, floating in the water chatting about everything. We remained in touch with each other though the years until I moved out to California about 10 years ago. I was hoping to see her during the SPCHS 20 yr reunion, I wanted her to finally meet my fiancee, the future Mrs Pagac...I wanted her approval. But, she was not there. I was really looking forward to seeing her.
We will all miss her very much. Thank goodness for all the wonderful memories I have of her.....

To the Francati and Looney Families:
Please accept my family's condolences to each of you in the loss of your loved one.
It's always a tragedy to lose a loved one, but the loss is somehow greater when the bereaved was so young.
I became friends with Cathy during the Summer of '77 at Pass A Grille Beach. We were introduced through Susan. Cathy and I spoke many times during the 77-78 school year at Univ. of FL. At that time, she was studying Nursing.
Over the past years, Cathy and I only spoke on those rare occasions where both our busy career and family lives had somehow crossed paths. She always seemed happy. Cathy always had that look in her eyes that something else was going in her life that maybe others didn't know about.
The last time I spoke with Cathy, she had her hands full with an active 1-1/2 year old at Pronto Car Wash. This was probably 2-3 years ago, give or take. Her patience was definitely showing! It was wonderful to see Cathy enjoying motherhood as a "late bloomer" like myself.
She was admired for her courage to change careers and to go into the construction field that, at that time, few women had ventured. She sent a very positive message to women that "you can do anything you put your mind to."
My fond respects to you and yours.
Barbara Reynolds

My thoughts go out to David, Garrett and to the Looney and Francati families. Cathy and I go back 25 years where we first met at the University of Florida. We were opposites in every way but that's what kept us together. She was one of the few friends I kept in touch with. I'll never have another friend as wonderful as Cathy. I will miss her terribly.

Dear Francati family I went school with Cathy and Susan. I am so sorry for the loss of your daughter. She was a wonderful friend in high school I am only sorry that I have not spoken to her in the last 10 years. Susan I think that you may remember me from school as well and I hope that God will guide you through this tragic time. Dr. Francati did the braces for my sister and I. I lost my sister to M.S. 2 years ago on December 11. To her husband and her son I wish nothing but the best in their time of need. If there is anything that I can do please call at 813 781-7206. My deepest and heart-felt sympathies go out to David, Garrett, Cathy's parents, siblings, and to John and Rickie. I will keep you all in my prayers. Cathy was always so sweet and kind to me. One time she gave me a nice, little card just to say "thanks!" for working for the company. Another time, she bought me a bottle of Kahlua when she heard it was my favorite. And she remembered me on my birthday with a thoughtful gift. I will love her and remember her always.

I was a few years younger than Cathy at SPCH. She was so very sweet to me during cheerleading practices and I can see her smile. My friends and I used her as the definition of beautiful, "beautiful like Cathy Francati." I can see her in a pink bikini on Pass A Grille beach with that long shiny hair. My heart goes out to her son and husband. loosing her way too early. Susan, I am so sorry and shocked at hearing of your sister's passing.
