Obituary of Albert E. Bowles

Bowles, Albert E., 89, of St. Petersburg, died Thursday March 8, 2001 at Palm Shores Retirement Center. Born in Bolton, England, he came to this country in 1914 and lived most of his life in the Detroit area where his father was a Methodist minister. A graduate of Eastern Michigan University, he taught English for nine years in Detroit area schools, was a technical writer and advertising executive with a Detroit ad agency, Ross Roy, Inc., for 17 years, and ended his career with 13 years as a writer and supervisor in the Graphic Arts Department of the Ford Motor Company. In Royal Oak, Michigan, his home for 35 years, he served on the City?s Recreation Board, the YMCA Board of Management and was a 35-year member of the Exchange Club. Since coming here in 1972, he was a freelance writer and an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he was the former Editor of the ?Burning Bush?, the First Presbyterian Church?s newsletter. Survivors include 2 daughters, Patricia Burton of Conyers, Georgia and Beverly Patrick of Gulf Breeze, Florida, a sister, Dorothy Smith of Glen Arbor, Michigan, 7 grandchildren, 4 great granddaughters and 1 great grandson.
