Obituary of Walter Panko

Panko, Walter, 83, of St. Petersburg, died Friday, June 1, 2001 at home of cancer. Born in Perth Amboy, NJ, he came here in 1981 from Glenolden, PA. He was a naval air engineer for the United States Navy in Philadelphia, PA from 1942 until 1970. He was a member of St. Raphael?s Catholic Church, a former member of the Elks Lodge # 1224, and an avid golfer. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Dorothy L. of St. Petersburg; one son, Walter J. Panko of Essington, PA; two stepsons, Gerald T. McCarty of Sewell, NJ and Justin McCarty of Pleasanton, CA; a stepdaughter, Rosemary McCarty of West Chester, PA; a brother, Edward Panko of Boothwyn, PA; and a sister, Frances Bonnett of Swarthmore, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the American Cancer Society. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes and Cremation Tribute Center ? Ninth Street Chapel.
